All About Puppies

When was my puppy born/ready to go home?

Your puppy’s date of birth and when they are ready to go will be posted above the litter photos in the availability page. As a general rule of thumb, pups don’t go come until at least 8 weeks of age.

How much will my puppy weigh as an adult?

I use a popular website, as well as previous litter, and parent’s pedigree information to make an educated guess on the puppy’s adult weight.

There is never any guarantee on adult weight size as nature has the final say. This calculation is given only as a guide. Parent’s size, grandparent’s size and a million other things can influence final adult weight.

Which puppies are available?

Only available puppies will be posted on the Available page. Once a puppy has been adopted, they will be deleted from the Available page. You may notice from time to time that a puppy is marked as “On Hold.” This means that a non-refundable holding fee is being processed. Don’t be discouraged! Adoptions fall through all the time, so don’t hesitate contacting me regarding a puppy. If you have a certain puppy in mind, please include the name when contacting me to prevent the confusion.

How much are your puppies?

Puppy pricing depends on color, markings, and size. Our puppy prices start at $2,500 limited AKC.

I saw puppies on Craigslist for $200. Why are yours so much more?

For one simple reason: quality. Money means nothing when it’s put to make a breed better, and if it brings beautiful, healthy puppies. We have spent so much money and time on our beloved pets just to bring the lines we have, so prices are placed accordingly. I am also a Veterinary professional with over 12 years experience, I’ve been raising Shih Tzu since 2009, as well as hold a Bachelor’s in Agriculture. I take my animal expertise into account because they have the best care possible during their stay with me.

Can I pick out my puppy in person?

As long as the puppies are 8 weeks old, you can pick him/her out in person. If not, you can only see the photos/videos that are posted. This is because the puppies haven’t been given their first vaccination before 8 weeks of age. This is ultimately for their health, and our future pups’ health.

Can my puppy go home with me before the posted date?

No, puppies are able to leave only when they are at least 8 weeks old, and a minimum of 2 lb.

What do your puppies come with?

Our Shih Tzu come with AKC registration application (breeding rights are available at my discretion at an additional charge to approved in-home breeders only), a 1 year health guarantee, age-appropriate vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, a baggy of toys, a puppy starter kit as well as a spay/neuter contract (if sold with limited AKC).

What does AKC limited registration mean?

AKC limited registration is given out to all puppies, unless otherwise stated. Your puppy is still registerable with the AKC; however you cannot use him/her for breeding/showing. If you want your puppy as a pet only, limited registration is perfect for your family. If you plan on using the puppy for breeding or to show in the future, we do offer full AKC registration at an additional cost.

Can I see pedigrees of the parents?

Pedigrees are available upon request.

Do you have a waiting list?

Yes, we do. You can be placed on the waiting list with or without a non-refundable holding fee. Those who placed a non-refundable holding fee will have pick before those who don’t. Altas Palmas Shih Tzu has the first pick of any litter before the waiting list.

Payment and Shipping

What forms of payment do you take?

I take PayPal, CashApp, Venmo, and cash.

If I place a holding fee on a puppy and change my mind, can I have the money back?

No, holding fees are non-refundable and because of this, please make sure that when you place a holding fee that you are certain of the commitment you are taking on. If you still decide against the resulting litter, it can be transferred to another litter and used then.

Do you take payment plans?

We do allow payment plans occasionally, but please note all puppies must be paid in full before they can leave my home.

Do you ship/deliver puppies?

I use a very trusted pet nanny, and I occasionally meet up for a gas fee.

Do you have a contract?

Yes, and it can be sent upon request.
